THE RIX'TET, SWING, JAZZ AND SINATRA IN SAINT-EMILION JAZZ FESTIVAL

Swing under the skin, the The Rix’tet group will revive the American crooners tradition at the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival 2015, with a special mention for Frank Sinatra. The jazz quintet will perform on July 18 at a free concert at the Guadet park.

MEET ERIC DELSAUX, THE GUITARIST AND THE SINGER OF THE BAND

THE RIX’TET “SINGING IS LIKE BREATHING”

Guitarist, pianist, singer and vintage hat enthusiast, Eric Delsaux, the front man of The Rix’Tet defines his group as a mix of “Jazz crooner like Sinatra and jazz to French gypsies “. If “Rix” has fun today behind a microphone, he has long preferred to make his guitar talk. “I built The Rix’Tet to be able to sing”, he explains. He also thrives in this new role: “I started to work my voice assiduously and I discovered that I have a tone made for that back catalogue, a little crooner. I sing Sinatra effortlessly”. Four musicians will accompany him on stage: Pascal Fallot (bass), Stéphane Garcia Tudela (snare drum), Joachim Montbord (guitar) and Jerome Dubois (trumpet). Enough to back up the voice of the crooner “I met musicians who were not necessarily jazz musicians. Instead, they come from the reggae world, salsa and funk. I wanted them to make the pieces groove”.

“THE BEST IS YET TO COME” AT THE SAINT-EMILION JAZZ FESTIVAL

Eric Delsaux “draws his energy” from songs and guitar and he fully intends to transmit that to the public at the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival. “The scene is a moment of truth.” A scene he knows well from two years ago where he performed with his other funk band, Duke. It remains a “great memory” and he is “very eager” to return with The Rix’Tet. Performing in Saint-Emilion, the land of vineyards is almost natural for him, “I am from the Bordeaux region, the wine is rooted in the region and in the mentalities. It’s part of my story and I love this village”. Moreover, the singer compares the Saint-Emilion wines to The Best is Yet to Come by Frank Sinatra “The best is yet to come, that is what is expected of the wine and this is necessarily what the winemaker works for”, says Eric Delsaux. This was the title of The Rix’tet’s first album, released in 2012. In September 2015, the group will present their new album, The Rix’tet Swings Frank Sinatra. A tribute to the crooner class Samples that the festivalgoers will discover before anyone else.

Lovers of jazz, class and Saint-Emilion wines: Be on 18th July at Guadet park at 20:00 h. More concerts can be found on the St. Emilion Jazz Festival site.
