For a long time, Sophie Gaillard was the face of the Saint-Emilion wines communication. An important step in her professional life and a human adventure that deeply impacted her.
SAINT-EMILION, THE FAMILY SPIRIT
“I used to see the Bordeaux wines as a bit posh. In Saint-Emilion, I found a lot of simplicity, down-to-earth people who touched me.” Between the Saint-Emilion wines and Sophie Gaillard, it is what you call a beautiful encounter. A young communication officer, she was hired in 1993: “as a child, I used to see Saint-Emilion wines on the family table. It’s when I started working there that I really discovered this amazing village, its wines and its inhabitants”.
FABRICE LUCHINI ENTERTAINS IN SAINT-EMILION
Some highlights that Sophie Gaillard remembers include the Jurade parties. Red dresses fashion show, celebration of the Saint-Emilion wines, the induction days are always high in color, especially when the guest of honor is Fabrice Luchini: “ He was great. He launched an extraordinary speech, he made us all laugh”. Patrick Bruel, Vincent Lindon or Patrick Timsit have all also been guests of honor at an induction: “I’m very surprised to see the emotion in these famous people, they were a bit like little children”.
SAINT-EMILION AND THE EIFFEL TOWER
Today, Sophie Gaillard is developing wine tourism at the Bordeaux Tourism Office. So she carries on with her beautiful story with Saint-Emilion. It’s not rare to see Japanese tourists go back and forth from Paris, to visit the Château Saint-Emilion: “For wine lovers, visiting Saint-Emilion is like going to the Eiffel Tower when you’re in Paris, is really is unmissable”.
