2016 BORDEAUX FÊTE LE VIN (WINE FESTIVAL): JOIN THE WINES OF SAINT-EMILION!

IT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL 10TH EDITION OF BORDEAUX FÊTE LE VIN HELD FROM 23RD TO 26TH JUNE 2016.

It is an exceptional 10th edition of Bordeaux Fête le Vin held from 23rd to 26th June 2016. A few steps from the new Cité du Vin, 700,000 visitors are expected on the Bordeaux quays. Ten cities are invited: Hong Kong, Quebec and Brussels as well as the Great Wine Capitals network. This year, the Saint-Emilion wines are also honored with the organization of the gala dinner and the parade of the Jurats de Saint-Emilion.

Bordeaux Fête le Vin is also now-a-days a traditional Wine Route. Get together at the Saint-Emilion Pomerol Fronsac Pavilion, with your pass, to taste the Saint-Emilion wines.

THE SAINT-EMILION POMEROL FRONSAC PAVILION AT BORDEAUX FÊTE LE VIN

The decor of the Bordeaux Fête le Vin imposes: on one side you have the Garonne with the Belem’s three masts in the distance. On the other, you contemplate the Saint-Emilion Pomerol Fronsac Pavilion, not far from Pont de Pierre, with winemakers ready to share their expertise. With your tasting pass, valid from Thursday to Sunday you are ready to taste the Saint-Emilion wines. Three tickets can be used on the Saint-Émilion Pomerol Fronsac Pavilion: the one dedicated to these appellations and your two “coup de cœur ” tickets.

No less than 190 châteaux will be presented at the Pavilion.

Enough to delight amateurs and connoisseurs. Every day from 11h to 23h30, twelve winemakers take turns to make you taste, particularly, the Saint-Emilion, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Lussac Saint-Emilion and Puisseguin Saint-Emilion.

Those who want to go further can attend 5 free daily training sessions on the Pavilion terrace. For half an hour, a trainer from the Ecole du Vin de Bordeaux will help you compare three different wines from the Saint-Emilion applellations (14h, 15h, 16h, 17h and 18h). Registration will be on site (30 participants per session).

SAINT-EMILION OPEN THE 2016 BORDEAUX FÊTE LE VIN

For the first time, the Saint-Emilion wines will open the festivities of Bordeaux Fête le Vin. The inauguration of the festival will take place on Thursday 23rd from 17h with the Commanders inaugural Parade. The red dress of the Jurats de Saint-Emilion will open the procession of about 200 people, who will leave the Bourse Maritime to go to Bordeaux Fête le Vin. They will join the Mayor of Bordeaux, Alain Juppe, who will launch the festivities. The parade will take place in partnership with the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival.

From 19h, a cocktail will be served on the terrace of Hangar 14, before the gala dinner (by invitation) which will bring together 600 guests. The starred chef Philippe Etchebest well-known in Saint-Emilion,

will create the meal, pairing it with 11 wines from the Saint-Emilion appellations. The evening will be an occasion to induct his Royal Highness Prince Henrik of Denmark as a Protector of the Jurade de Saint-Emilion, and Quebec City Mayor, Régis Labeaume, as Vigneron d’honneur and Bourgeois de Saint Émilion.

During the dinner, exceptional prizes will be auctioned to benefit Médecins Sans Frontières. The evening will close with fireworks each night at 23h30, during the Bordeaux Fête le Vin 2016.
