For this 2016 edition of Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes (30th April and 1st May 2016), Château Beauséjour in Puisseguin opens its doors wide to welcome you “as friends”. You will taste organic wines produced in this vineyard, in the Dupuy family (also owners of Château Langlais) for over 80 years. In all, 91 châteaux of Saint-Emilion appellations are participating in the event.
During the 2016 Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes, Gérard Dupuy and his team will start with a visit of the basements and the cellars of Château Beauséjour. Within the building, you will discover the many oak barrels for the ageing of the wines. Next, there will be tastings of 2009 and 2013 vintages of Château Langlais. Five wines to learn how to taste and compare.
“For us, every vintage is different. They each have their characteristics.
Most important to the consumer, it is the standard of quality. We always put the bar high on the production of our wines”.
Gérard Dupuy, owner of Château Beauséjour
The owner also invites you to taste a premium wine of 2010 Château Beauséjour, aged for 24 months in new barrels. During the Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes, you will experience an hour of discovery of flavors, colors or just the smell of the great representative of the appellation Puisseguin Saint-Émilion.
Sunday dinner, on 1st May (by reservation) is an “important moment”, says Gérard Dupuy.
“There is a strong exchange with visitors that are considered as guests and even a bit like our friends. It is important that they feel a bit at home”. Gérard Dupuy, owner of Château Beauséjour
During the meal, a storyteller will read to you the texts of Alain Dupuy, the father of Gérard Dupuy. Writings that represent the philosophy of this family settled in the Château Beauséjour since 1934.
“This is the memory of our ancestors who worked to produce the wines a very natural way. These wines, respectful of nature and of the consumer that is now called organic”. Gérard Dupuy, owner of Château Beauséjour
For the meal, you will enjoy foie gras, ribs cooked on branches or pata negra ham. A moment of conviviality guaranteed to make you feel at home, during the weekend of Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes.
