Well used quality water

Water resource is a major issue for the coming decades, and winegrowing is no exception to the rule.

Its quality and preservation depend as much on good effluent management as on controlled use in the vineyard and the winery.
A number of actions have been taken, such as planting hedges along watercourses to restore riparian zones (narrow linear wooded areas or vast expanses encircling rivers), limit erosion and prevent pollution of watercourses by creating buffer zones.
Our winegrowers, under the impetus of the Saint-Emilion Wines Council, are learning from our partners (SyER, Sietavi) how to better manage this precious resource.
This subject is linked to the other areas of action in which Saint-Emilion wines are involved:

The Dordogne, a biosphere reserve

The Saint-Emilion vineyards are bordered by the Dordogne River, whose extraordinary natural setting was designated a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 2012.

A protected area that must be preserved, this exceptional site is home to numerous animal and plant species that drink from it and draw their energy from it.
