IN A WINEMAKER’S SHOES DURING A (LONG) WEEKEND
As part of the 2017 Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes, visitors to the Château Cormeil-Figeac will be able to discover, with their family, the know-how of the winemakers, while having fun.
“I think I miss teaching”, Coraline Moreaud-Mc Allan smiles. This former English teacher, converted to viticulture in 2012, wants you to discover her passion. During the 2017 Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes, you can explore her 25-hectare family estate, with a visit adapted to all.
“There is a small course with a blind tasting of different fruit juices. We will continue with a game around scents. Then, I will take the visitors to the vineyard with pickers’ baskets and they will learn about the first steps to take care of the vines!”
As a family, you will get to know more about the cycle of the vine. And for a bit of thrill, the more adventurous will be able to climb on one of the tractors of the estate (it will not be started).
Jazz lovers will not be left out during the 2017 Saint-Emilion Portes Ouvertes. Especially on Sunday evening. You will be invited to the À l’Arrach’Band concert, in the Cormeil-Figeac cellar from 7 pm (reservation required). This group of 12 musicians will happily accompany your meal with music. Sat at a table, you can enjoy a plate of tapas for 5 €. What better wine to accompany these appetizers than a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru? A wine bar will allow you to taste a Cormeil-Figeac by the glass (2 to 4 €). The rest of the evening will continue with DJ Scott who will make you dance to electro pop!
This moment of conviviality is a first for Coraline and Victor Moreaud, since the resumption of the family domain in 2012.
“We want to take time to chat with our visitors”, explains Coraline Moreaud-Mc Allan. The sister and the brother are the 4th generation on this domain. On 29th, 30th April and 1st May, they will have the pleasure of sharing their family know-how with you.
