On Sunday 24th October, the Saint-Emilion Wines had the honour of hosting the first Dîner d’Epicure. To mark the occasion, a large tombola was organised. It raised €10,000 for the Children of the Moon charity.
The Enfants de la Lune association brings together and supports parents of children with Xeroderma Pigmentosum. For these children, living in broad daylight is impossible. They need total protection from all ultraviolet rays to avoid premature death.
Supported by almost 350 volunteers, the association brings together almost 90 patients and their families in France and neighbouring countries. The aim of its members is to protect these children and improve their quality of life. To achieve this, they help the families to better understand the disease and the means of photoprotection. The association also aims to promote the social integration of sufferers, and to support and fund medical research.
On Sunday, 24 October, a raffle was organised during the Dîner d’Epicure to support this cause.
To mark the 175th anniversary of the birth of the great Master of Gastronomy, Auguste Escoffier, Epicureans and Disciples Escoffier from all over the world came together on Thursday, 28 October to share the same menu and the same ambition: to promote the excellence of French cuisine throughout the world. The event brought together nearly 8,000 guests from over 30 countries.
As a prelude to this event, Saint-Emilion wines had the honour of hosting the first Dîner d’Epicure on Sunday 24 October. The Grand Sud-Ouest delegation of the Disciples Escoffier, chaired by Patrick Guat, had concocted an exceptional programme for its 250 guests.
After the inductions at the heart of Château Cheval Blanc, the guests and new inductees enjoyed a sumptuous meal. All proceeds from the evening and the tombola were donated to Enfants de la Lune. Thanks to the many donors and the evening’s guests, €10,000 was raised.
