On Friday 26th November, the DA Racing team was at Château Pavie to present the drivers and cars for the 2022 e-Trophée Andros. To mark the occasion, the Jurade de Saint-Emilion had the honour of inducting Romain GROSJEAN, the famous racing driver.
Romain GROSJEAN is regarded as one of France’s great racing hopefuls, and made his Formula 1 debut in 2009. For almost 10 years, the Franco-Swiss racer scored points on several occasions for his various teams and climbed many podiums. However, he is due to end his Formula 1 career in 2020 after 179 starts.
During the first lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the driver was involved in one of the most terrifying accidents in Formula 1 this decade. His car, travelling at over 200km/h, hit a safety rail and burst into flames. Although Romain GROSJEAN managed to extricate himself from his car virtually unscathed, his hands were seriously injured.
However, he has not stopped driving. After a break, he is now competing in Indycar (an American championship): he has signed with the Andretti Autosport team for the 2022 season. He has also become a Formula 1 consultant for Canal+.
At the end of the year, he also joined the DA Racing team to take part in the e-Trophée Andros. The benchmark competition in ice racing, the 2021 – 2022 season kicks off on 4 and 5 December in Val Thorens (Savoie).
On his way to this 1st stage, the DA Racing team made a diversion to Saint-Emilion. The riders made their way to Château Pavie for a presentation of their team and their 100% electric cars: 2 Renault Zoé and 1 AS 01 DDM.
The Jurade de Saint-Emilion also had the pleasure of inducting Romain Grosjean as Honorary Winemaker and Bourgeois of Saint-Emilion.
As a great lover of gastronomy and wine, he was delighted by this surprise.
Good luck to all our riders in the forthcoming competitions!
