The last quarter of 2018 was marked by a sustained presence of Saint-Émilion wines among french sommeliers.
In October, the Association des Sommeliers de Bretagne celebrated its 50th anniversary with a unique and memorable gala dinner. For the occasion, chef Olivier Bellin (double starred) offered a 5-stroke tasting enhanced by wines from 5 French wine-growing regions. The wines of Saint-Émilion were in the spotlight on the closing dish and two wines were tasted according to a specific theme: a young wine “full of charm” against a mature wine “softened”.
Then, at the beginning of November, some fifty members of the Association des Sommeliers d’Aquitaine were received in the Saint-Emilion vineyard for a tasting of the 2015 vintage, i.e. nearly 50 vintages from the appellations Lussac Saint-Emilion, Puisseguin Saint-Émilion, Montagne Saint-Emilion and Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion. The tasting was followed by a convivial lunch cocktail in the presence of the winegrowers who were able to exchange and present their wines.
