The old school of Saint-Emilion was be transformed in a special place with animations for children: biodiversity workshops (create your own medicinal plant garden, small gestures for the planet, braiding vime...) and a children’s tales place.

A picnic walk was organized from the Château des Laurets for a hike-discovery of the surrounding landscapes! Accompanied by a wine grower, enjoy a 2h30 walk in the heart of the vineyards and historic landscapes before picnicking in the heart of the estate’s vineyards. The property offered for the occasion a tasting of its wines and farm cheeses.

The lawns of the Logis de Malet were arranged in a relaxation area punctuated by acoustic jazz concerts performed by the duet Jaza2 and art live performances.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO inscription, Christian Naura (painter), Jean-François André (sculptor), Jone and Ben Track (street art artists) proposed the creation of a live work from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

Eric Besson, painter, was honour the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO inscription through the construction of a participatory work.

The works of all the artists were be exhibited inside the Logis de Malet.

The arcades of the Logis de Malet were also host the exhibition of photos of the winners of the competition organized as part of the Montgolfiades de Saint-Emilion for the 20th anniversary.

Theme of the competition: the remarkable sites of the Jurisdiction seen from the sky.

Groups can walk along various routes. During the day, "Philosophy" walks was be organized, as well as "Heritage" walks that was allow you to see the Jurisdiction outside the beaten track.

Heritage Walks

In the company of historian and lecturer-guide David Souny, the visitor could discovered the Jurisdiction and its built, natural or cultural heritage. The Saint-Emilion region is full of sites that testify to the diversity of this cultural landscape, shaped by Man over the centuries.

11:00 am: Stroll around the Menhir de Pierrefitte (Saint-Sulpice-De-Faleyrens)

A monumental witness of prehistory in the region, the Pierrefitte menhir also materializes the location of the medieval port of Saint-Emilion. The visit was started at the foot of the menhir and then reached the banks of the Dordogne.

14h00 : Crossed views on Saint-Emilion.

Get off the beaten track... to discover unknown districts and monuments of Saint-Émilion. From Porte Brunet, the tour was descended to Place Bouqueyre to join the Madeleine plateau to offer two exceptional and opposite views of the city and its surroundings.

Sunday:

11:30 am: In the heart of the rock (Saint-Hippolyte)

From the church of Saint-Hippolyte, the walk was taken you to the caves of Ferrand. Built at the end of the 17th century on the edge of the limestone plateau, they are a life-size decoration to the glory of Louis XIV and literary legends of the time. A magical site!

16h00 : Under the vine... a city! (Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse)

Standing on the edge of the plateau overlooking the village of Saint-Etienne de Lisse, the Croix de Tourans offers a wide panoramic view of the Dordogne valley. To achieve this, the walking loop was offered you views of the ancient oppidum of Niord and the terraces of Château de Pressac, two high places in the history of the Saint-Emilion region...

To end these three exceptional days as it should, the Jurats in procession was marched with torchlights from the House Guadet to the Tour du Roy. All eyes was then turned to the sky to contemplate a magnificent closing firework display.

A banquet was be organised at night to inaugurate the event on June, 28 along the banks of the Dordogne (also classified as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO): A way to celebrate the 20th anniversary around a festive meal, open-air music and festive spirit !

A special "20th anniversary" wine, offered by the Union de Producteurs de Saint-Emilion, was be available during the meal.

The Parc Guadet was host a food area. About twenty food stands was be available to delight everyone in a charming setting. Festive bands were provided musical entertainment and a “Saint-Emilion Wine Festival” stand was be at the center of the park.

A stage was be set up in the heart of the moat of the Palais Cardinal and was hosted two free concerts each evening, proposed by the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival.

Here, people was be able to buy local products (honey, foie gras, truffles…) and admire craftsmen’s creations (jewellery, macramé...).
