YOU'RE ONE OF SAINT-EMILION WINES' 24 "COUPS DE CŒUR 2022". HOW DO YOU FEEL?

"We're very pleased that our work is recognized by independent commissions."

Can you tell us a more about your estate?

Château Croque-Michotte has been a family estate since 1906, and has been certified organic since 1999. We’re located in the northwest of the appellation, on the border with Pomerol, between Cheval Blanc and Pétrus. We have similar soils, ancient sands and gravels, with the presence of blue clays with iron concretions that give the wines from this sector their distinctive character. We produce a terroir-driven wine with low yields. Coupled with a 15-month vinification in French oak barrels, this results in wines with excellent ageing potential.

Fun fact

One of our buildings contains a large bread oven. The story goes that the neighborhood used to bake their large loaves of bread, known as michottes, which gave the property its name.

Can you tell us about the winning vintage?

The garnet-red color is limpid.

The initial raspberry nose is complemented by a hint of smoke.

The attack on the palate is clean and round, characteristic of vinification under organic protection.

Typical of the west terroir of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, the palate continues with complex aromas of jam and roasting.

This wine can also be enjoyed relatively early.

Can you suggest a food and wine pairing with the winning cru?

Château La Couspaude goes perfectly with a 7 o’clock leg of lamb or a lamprois à la bordelaise.

Pouvez-vous nous nous proposer un accord met et vin avec le cru lauréat ?

Le Château La Couspaude accompagne parfaitement un gigot de 7h ou encore une lamprois à la bordelaise.
