Every year, during the various Chapters of the Jurade de Saint-Emilion, numerous personalities are inducted during an official ceremony. In June 2024, during the Spring Festival on Sunday June 16, His Excellency André-Magnus EKOUMOU was made Peer of the Jurade in the Monolithic Church of Saint-Emilion.
Born into a modest family in the central region of Cameroon, André-Magnus Ekoumou is a seasoned diplomat, having studied Law, Political Science and International Relations at the University of Reims and the University of Yaoundé, where he completed his studies at the Institut des Relations Internationales du Cameroun (IRIC).
André-Magnus Ekoumou is a connoisseur of French winemaking traditions and a lover of good wine and its sharing values, as well as a keen walker, especially in the early morning. He is also an avid reader, making openness to others an essential part of his business.
In 1992, armed with his PhD in International Relations, he embarked on a long career as a diplomat, which took him successively to the Ministry of External Relations, then for 25 years to the Presidency of the Republic.
First in the Special Affairs Division, then in the Diplomatic Affairs Division, since June 30, 2020 he has enjoyed the Very High Confidence of the President of the Republic H.E. Paul BIYA, who appointed him Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cameroon to the French Republic, and later Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Cameroon to Unesco, and Personal Representative of the Head of State to the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).
For this 2024 edition of the Jurade’s Spring Festival, over 200 lovers of Saint-Emilion wines came together. Coming from the 4 corners of the world, from our chancelleries, invited by our Jurats and by the Conseil des Vins de Saint-Emilion, they were able to share together this day placed under the sign of conviviality.
Alongside His Excellency André-Magnus Ekoumou, 18 other candidates were invited to join the great family of Saint-Emilion wines. They included David Abiker, journalist and now Honorary Vigneron and Bourgeois de Saint-Emilion, and Philippine DelairePhilippine DELAIRE, humorist, who was named Dame de la Jurade.
