The origin of the name comes from Fons, which means source or fountain, and Brogiera, which evokes Buissons and Bruyères.Fombrauge has belonged to the lords of Canolle since the 15th century, the latter having made the lands grow, the vine in particular. The Chartreuse presents the characteristics of a large rural house at the end of the 17th century, Fombrauge then belonged to Jacques Dumas, adviser to the Parliament of Guyenne. The latter is working to develop trade or improve wine techniques. It was guillotined in 1794. The domain was seized as a national property, before its heirs made their rights in 1808. During the 19th and 20th century, various owners succeeded each other.Fombrauge was finally acquired in 1999 by Bernard Magrez. The castle entered the ranking in 2012. The renovation of the building and the gardens, the development of the installations or the establishment of a high -end receptive service have restored all its light to Fombrauge.
