Hikes in Saint-Emilion for the Bordeaux Vineyard Commitment Awards
On Sunday, June 4th 2023, come and discover the vineyards of Saint-Emilion and the environmental commitments of our wine growers.
As part of the Trophées Bordeaux Vignoble Engagé (Bordeaux Vineyard Commitment Awards), Terre de Vins joins the Interprofessional Bordeaux Wine Council and the Saint-Emilion Wine Council to propose two hiking trails.
The idea is to help you discover the environmental engagement of the Saint-Emilion vineyards, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
2 hiking trails
Located less than an hour from Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion welcomes you with your family and friends to discover its vineyard, first one to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural landscapes.
And for this, Terre de Vins offers 2 itineraries :
- a 5 km hike lasting about 1h30,
- a 9 km hike lasting about 3 hours.
Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a beginner, these loops are open to children and adults alike !
During your walk, you will enjoy these superb landscapes registered in the World Heritage of Humanity. Along the way, learn all about the Outstanding Universal Value of the Saint-Emilion vinyard thanks to reading tables.
During the two hike loops, you will have the pleasure to discover the richness of the Saint-Emilion vineyard. Discover the fauna and flora of the vineyards and admire the Châteaux along the way.
Throughout your walk, 4 workshops are offered by the Châteaux of Saint-Emilion to learn all about the environmental practices adopted by our winegrowers.
Fauna and flora workshop at Château Haut-Sarpe
During this educational workshop, you will get explanations on the insects and bats’ importance on the surrounding fauna and vineyard. Also to be seen: an amazing artistic collection in the gardens of the property and the aviary.
Nature and respect workshop at Château Sarpe Grand Jacques
The owners of the Château will welcome you for a tasting of the (organic) wine of the property and will share with you their work in communion with nature.
