On the occasion of the Harvest Proclamation (Ban des Vendanges) and the European Heritage Days, the Jurade of Saint-Emilion invites you to an exceptional event. More than 10 years later, the famous Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja returns to give a concert in the Saint-Emilion’s Collegiate Church on September 16th, 2023.
It’s a long-standing love affair.
Joseph Calleja returns to Saint-Emilion, much to our delight. His last performance in the Saint-Emilion’s Collegiate Church was at the 2012 Harvest Proclamation. Prior to that, he performed in the medieval town for the first time in 2009.
For this 3rd performance on the occasion of the Harvest Proclamation and the European Heritage Days, come and (re)discover the greatest works of opera and unmissable songs in what promises to be an exceptional concert.
Join us on September 16th, 2023 in Saint-Emilion’s Collegiate Church at 6pm for a one-hour concert. A moment out of time, in a place steeped in history, where the voice of the Maltese-born tenor will be accompanied by soprano Lada Bockova and the talents of Morgane Fauchois-Prado on piano.
For this recital, Joseph Calleja has selected essential pieces from his repertoire.
You’ll hear him perform pieces by Gounod, Puccini, Bocelli, Dvorak … Joseph Calleja will also be performing songs from outside the lyrical repertoire, including Edith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose” and Jerry Bock’s “If I were a Rich Man”.
If Joseph Calleja has a loyal following in France, he’ll also be delighted to return to Saint-Emilion. Indeed, the Maltese-born tenor is a connoisseur of fine wines, particularly those from Saint-Emilion.
That’s why, in 2012, the Jurade of Saint-Emilion inducted him during the Harvest Proclamation and weekend festivities. This event marked the beginning of his role as an ambassador for Saint-Emilion wines around the world.
