POST IMAGE CELEBRATE THEIR 30 YEARS AT THE 2017 SAINT-EMILION JAZZ FESTIVAL
22nd July 2017
Post Image at Saint-Émilion
During the 6TH edition of the Saint-Émilion Jazz Festival, the band Post Image will celebrate jazz, wine and its thirtieth anniversary. Its leader and co-founder, bassist Dany Marcombe, will see you on Saturday 22nd July, 2017 at 6 pm on the free stage of Parc Guadet, for a jazz fusion concert with a mixture of jazz, world, blues and groove.
A SECOND VISIT TO THE 2017 SAINT-EMILION JAZZ FESTIVAL
“We are really happy to return to the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival“, smiles Dany Marcombe, the band leader. Post Image had delighted the festival-goers in 2013, at the 2nd edition of the Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival. At the time, the cult group had celebrated its 25 years. In 2017, they pass the threshold of 30 years, still with the same energy.
“This festival is very welcoming, especially through President Dominique Renard. We always feel good when we come. And then, the musical openness that we see makes us really want to come back. We need more festivals like this one!”
Originally from the Bordeaux region, Post Image is one of those who like to play abroad (Spain, Hungary, Algeria …) and even with the biggest: opened for Miles Davis, before sharing the stage with Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin and Wayne Shorter. Just that! And it is a real pleasure for Dany Marcombe to return to perform at the 2017 Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival.
“What I like about this festival is the opportunity to discover bands that are little known to the French public and at the same time pay to see big names. It’s a mixture I love. There is something for everyone“.
Playing at the 2017 Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival is also an opportunity to take a closer look at the Saint-Emilion wines.
“I do not know the world of viticulture very well. But I often go to the Bordeaux vineyards. I find it very interesting to know that I can easily discuss with winemakers“.
And he will not have a long way to go to meet them, since there will be an ephemeral wine bar at the Parc Guadet, opposite the free stage. Behind the counter will be the winemakers of the Saint-Emilion appellations, ready to advise you and share their know-how.
"FRAGILE" AND SOLID, POST IMAGE STRIPS NAKED AT THE 2017 SAINT-EMILION JAZZ FESTIVAL
Post Image’s return will be the occasion to present the band’s new album, “Fragile“, released in March, 2017. An album to celebrate their 30 years and a title which also refers to key moments: the death of a friend and the birth of the first child of the drummer, Éric Perez.
“I feel that everything is fragile. We are in a fragile world and a music band is also so. But strength is also present, brought by the band. We all live with this fragility, our album wanted to remind that”.
For this new album, the sextet invited long-time friends: cornettist Medéric Collignon, singer John Greaves and saxophonist Alain Debiossat. You can also find them on the stage of the 2017 Saint-Emilion Jazz Festival!
