For 8 years, Eric Le Collen brings the Philosophia festival alive in Saint-Emilion. When wines meet philosophy, the result is enchanting.
SAINT-EMILION, AN INVITATION TO WISDOM
Eric Le Collen got the idea of Philosophia after attending a philosophy festival in Italy. He then decided to organize the event in Saint-Emilion. Charmed by the vines, the village naturally comes to his mind: “Saint-Emilion is rich in exceptional places, perfect to listen to the word”. Listed as UNESCO World Heritage, open to the world, Saint-Emilion is consistent with the spirit of the festival: “We are open to everyone”. The gamble paid off, the festival’s audience is more and more varied and enjoys a large variety of entertainment, with debates, projections, as well as Saint-Emilion wine tasting.
STRONG LINKS BETWEEN WINE AND PHILOSOPHY
Success is great, with more than 4,500 spectators last year: “it was a full house many times!”. With a universal Love theme, the 2014 Philosophia edition will once again be full of exchanges and sharing, concepts which also correspond to Saint-Emilion wines. Wine makers have also appreciated this event from the start: “Philosophy and wine are very close universes, here you can find a true wine civilization”, says Eric Le Collen. Patience, listening, reflection, proximity with nature, Saint-Emilion is made for a successful wine and philosophy combination.
