Once again this year, the Coupe des Crus de Saint-Emilion honors 24 winners.
These men and women work day after day to produce wines that live up to the quality and environmental commitment of Saint-Emilion wines.
Discover the portraits of these properties in Lussac Saint-Emilion, Puisseguin Saint-Emilion, Saint-Emilion and Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, as well as Grands Crus Classés.
Today, the spotlight is on Château Croix de Rambeau, a Lussac Saint-Emilion, with a portrait of its owner, Benoit TROCARD.
I have two roles at the estate: I look after the vinification and marketing of our wines.
We’ve been a family of winemakers since 1620. This property came into my family at the end of the 19th century and has been Terra Vitis and HVE4 certified since 2015.
We sell our wines on the estate and by mail order for 18 euros a bottle, and are open to the public every day by appointment for visits and tastings.
"Great pride in the recognition of our expertise, and enormous motivation to keep pushing our cru forward."
2024 FAVOURITES – CHATEAU CROIX DE RAMBEAU
Our award-winning cru can be summed up in three words: family, heritage and ancestral.
Croix de Rambeau is a wine produced on a clay plateau (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc) which has the particularity of developing cherry aromas and a slight smokiness linked to its ageing in French oak barrels for 16 months.
To try and demonstrate the quality and consistency of our family estate and gain recognition for our winemaking expertise.
Croix de Rambeau is at its most complex after 5 years, but can be kept for twenty years in a quality cellar.
Our wine is perfect with juicy meat dishes or small game.
What makes our estate unique is its winemaking history, handed down from generation to generation since 1620, and the wine’s great ageing potential. For example, we found bottles from 1929 hidden under the dirt floor of the kitchen when we were digging an underground cellar in 1984. These bottles had been hidden by my great-grandfather during the German occupation.
We tasted them again recently and the wine still has incredible depth and freshness.
