Puisseguin Saint-Emilion

THE APPEAL OF THE SUBLIME

Located about 50 kilometres (30 miles) east of Bordeaux and to the north-east of Saint-Émilion on the right bank of the River Dordogne, the Puisseguin Saint-Émilion appellation area benefits from an unparalleled southern to south-eastern orientation..

Puisseguin Saint-Émilion vines grow mainly in clayey limestone soils with some silty sand. The bedrock is relatively uniform and serves to conserve the humidity in the soil that the Merlot grape variety likes even during dry spells – Merlot accounts for 80% of the vines in the appellation area. The total area in vines amounts to 730 hectares (1,800 acres). Total production is around 35,000 hectolitres per year.

As a rule here, winters are mild, summers are hot and autumns are long and sunny. The vines therefore benefit from the best conditions to ensure perfectly ripe grapes at harvest time.

Puisseguin Saint-Émilion only produces red wines. These display dense, deep colour and a wide range of aromas. They are very high quality. On the palate they have an appealing fleshy, succulent texture, which is never heavy. They have distinctive, nicely rounded tannins, which ensure a good ageing capacity. They promise a wealth of experiences to be shared.
