Claire joined her father, Jean-Luc, to manage the vineyard in 2015. Since then, she is in charge of the vineyard marketing and communication and oversees the wine tourism business. With the technical team, she carries out the various tastings and validates the blends. She also develops the different research trials carried out in the vineyard.
In the Middle Ages, Château la Rose Perrière was a monks monastery, who started planting the first vines on the limestone hillside. The vineyard, one of the oldest in the Lussac Saint-Emilion appellation, covers 14 hectares, including 10.5 hectares of vines in a single block, all planted with red grapes varieties.
The property, which is well exposed to the sun, enjoys a remarkable location and benefits from a limestone basement where the outcropping bedrock is covered by a layer of crmbled clay and limestone no more than 30 cm thick.
Jean-Luc Sylvain, bought Château La Rose Perrière in 2003 and undertook major renovation work on the cellar, storage buildings and the vineyard.
It is necessary to go back 4 generations to understand the origins of this family, passionate about wine and wood.
It was from his grandfather, Pierre, that Jean-Luc Sylvain saw his passion being born. In 1961, his grandfather acquired his first vines.
From now on, thanks to their family know-how and experience, part of the Sylvain family is working to produce wines of exceptional quality. Indeed, for several years, Claire and Rémi have chosen to follow their father’s footsteps, and are working on both the Tonnellerie Sylvain and the vineyards.
United by the same passion, Jean-Luc and his children work together to produce wines which are authentic and rich with an unrivalled expertise.
The teams, involved in the HEV (High Environmental Value) approach, carry out their daily work with the constant concern to environmental impact and to maintain and develop biodiversity in and around the plots and the surrounding area. The vineyard has been awarded HEV level 3 certification and is in the process of converting to organic farming.
"We are proud of this award. Once again, Château La Rose Perrière has been selected Coup de Coeur
by the tasters during this blind tasting. A great achievement for our wine over 3 vintages!"
An emblematic figure in the vineyard, Château La Rose Perrière, Lussac Saint-Emilion, is made from parcels located on the plateau of the property. The vinification in 500 L barrels ensures a subtle marriage of fruit and wood while preserving the plot selection. This wine is distinguished by an aromatic complexity of ripe fruit and spices. The fatness and silky tannins give it a great seduction.
The Sylvain family, owners of Château la Rose Perrière, is a family of coopers. It is for the richness of its history but also its exceptional clay-limestone terroir that Jean-Luc Sylvain, a well-known cooper from the Bordeaux right bank, fell under the spell of this atypical property and bought it in 2003. Barrels’ theme tastings can be organised during visits to the property.
