I’m the technical director. My job is to manage and control all aspects of wine production, from vine planting to bottling. All this is done with respect for the terroirs and the environment.
For over 30 years, through the company Vitigestion and in collaboration with Guillaume Goulinat, the vineyard manager, I have been passionately managing the properties of the Messrs Tessandier group, of which Château du Moulin Noir is a part.
"We are very proud of this result. It's the reward for years of hard work and consistency in the quality of our often award-winning products."
In 1989, we acquired our first 4.5 hectares of AOC Lussac Saint Emilion vines. The following year saw the construction of a winery and a barrel cellar. At the same time, the estate expanded with the purchase of vines in Montagne-Saint-Emilion and Lussac-Saint-Emilion.
Equipped with suitable premises and high-performance tools, we strive to produce authentic, mouth-watering wines in keeping with our terroir, in the pure expression of our grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
We have been fully committed to respecting the environment for over 10 years (Environmental Management System – EMS), and in 2016 we obtained ISO 14001 and HVE3 certification.
Legend has it that the Château du Moulin Noir takes its name from the Middle Ages, when two brothers fought over the land after the death of their father. The second brother, wounded at not inheriting the land as his elder brother had, even though he had worked on it all his life, decided on a hot summer’s evening to set fire to the property in revenge for being driven off. Everything burnt down that night, except for the mill. A little way from the house, it remained intact but blackened by the flames and smoke, hence its name Château du Moulin Noir.
Château du Moulin Noir is a typical Saint-Emilion wine, made from a majority of Merlot grapes grown on clay-limestone soils. It expresses all its authenticity and finesse.
Château du Moulin Noir is the perfect accompaniment to a Bordeaux-style entrecote steak with freshly picked porcini mushrooms.
"Fully committed to promoting our terroirs and appellations, Château du Moulin Noir will continue its efforts to ensure that this award is just one more step in the recognition of its products".
