On January 31st, 2022, at the end of the Coupe des Crus de Saint-Emilion, 24 crus were named “Coups de Cœur 2022” by a jury of professionals! Château Haut-Gazeau, a Saint-Emilion, was one of the winners. Julien JUZAN, 42, is the owner. Find out more about this winemaker and his wine!
After several years of training in the wine industry and apprenticeships on estates, I took over Château Haut-Gazeau in 2009.
Today, I’m in charge of the day-to-day management. This includes marketing and winemaking. I’m also a tractor operator.
"For us, this Coup de Cœur selection rewards teamwork."
Château Haut Gazeau extends over 13 hectares around a Girondine dating from the 19th century.
The estate covers two appellations: Lussac Saint Emilion and Bordeaux Supérieur. With its south exposure, it is situated on the top of the clay-limestone plateau known as “Gazeau”, from which the name Haut Gazeau derives.
The property is planted with a judicious combination of Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes, in the right proportions, to enhance the expression of their respective characters.
Our property has been awarded with the High Environmental Value label, and in 2019 we launched a sulfite-free wine.
Carmen red color.
Fresh fruit.
Beautiful density on the palate, with relief and dynamism. Well-coated tannins contribute to this relief effect.
Freshness, with a hint of vivacity, gives it very interesting aromatic length.
Château Haut Gazeau goes perfectly with gourmet dishes in sauce, or red meat.
"The winegrowing profession is an exciting one, as it evolves and adapts to new demands and climate change. There's still a lot to do."
