I’m the cellar master. I’m in charge of maturing the wine from the moment the grapes arrive after the harvest until it’s bottled.
What I like most is the complete vinification in barrels.
"Very honoured to have been selected!"
Major renovations have been carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery to restore this historic estate, which was bought by our family in 2001. Located in the commune of St-Etienne-de-Lisse, to the east of the village of Saint-Emilion, the 5.5 hectare vineyard is planted at the foot of the appellation’s famous plateau.
The property is planted exclusively with Merlot.
According to the legend, this château was originally the haunt of a ruthless warrior hobber. He owed his nickname “Le Noir” to his armour and his nocturnal exactions. This is where he stayed with his henchmen, winegrowers or soldiers by day and brigands by night.
The etiquette still includes this detail of the knight.
Colour: Bright ruby
Nose: Delicate, almost seductive, combining red fruit aromas with toasty notes.
Palate: The attack is both round and woody, revealing good body and a balanced structure underpinned by mellow tannins. Lingering notes of strawberry and blackberry add freshness and elegance to the finish.
Château Jacques Noir goes very well with grilled red meats, game and sauces. You can also enjoy it with slightly spicy dishes, cheese or chocolate desserts.
"We make wines that are like us, wines that we want to drink, elegant, fruity, gourmet wines".
