Our situation is quite rare. It’s not that common to find all the brothers and sisters working on the same estate.
We are extremely complementary and have a common vision of the future, which does not prevent us from having passionate discussions from time to time. We all have our own specialties, but we are always happy to work together during the high points of the year, such as the harvest for example.
For my part (Catherine) what I like most is the period of leaf removal, it is an essential moment when we uncover the grapes to offer them the optimal conditions until the harvest.
"A great joy to be part of the Coupe des Crus "Coups de Cœur" for the first time."
Château Carteau is located on the southern slopes of Saint-Emilion, at the foot of Tertre Daugay on a clay and sandy soil. Originally, it is a small estate which dates back to 1850 and which has developed over the generations and particularly on that of our father Jacques Bertrand. Today, it’s a 17 ha estate which produces essentially Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The property is certified with a HVE (High Environmental Value) level 3 since 2015.
It is not uncommon to meet 3 generations at CARTEAU.
Château Carteau Côtes Daugay 2019 is a charming vintage where the aromas oscillate between black cherry and toasted notes. In the mouth, the expression of the fruit is perfectly balanced with the roundness of the tannins. A wine to keep between 5 and 10 years.
The Château Carteau Côtes Daugay 2019 vintage will match perfectly with a good quasi de veau and its morel sauce.
