I’m the winemaker and property manager. When I set up Château La Commanderie with my wife Magali in 2005, I was realizing a life project that had taken root since I was a teenager.
Today, I’m in charge of growing the vines and making the wines. I’m also in charge of marketing and general organization at Vignobles Magali & Thibaut Decoster. These include 4 vineyards, a restaurant, guest rooms and unique wine tourism trails.
"The result confirms the exceptional status of Château La Commanderie's vineyard and its terroir, which guides us in making a wine that resembles it."
In 2012, during the latest Saint-Emilion classification, Château La Commanderie was distinguished as a Grand Cru Classé. Its terroir is an extension of gravelly terraces that mix with ferruginous sands. This gives the wine a very particular and refined complexity. The vines benefit from southern exposure.
Château La Commanderie is a refined, elegant and sensual wine. The wine is fine, well-balanced and remarkably fruity, reflecting its terroir of gravel and sand, typical of the plateau to the west of the village.
Château La Commanderie goes very well with poultry braised with lardons, Orloff veal roast, blue grilled entrecôte, or cheeses such as Comté, Saint-Nectaire and Reblochon.
