At Château Soutard, Véronique is the Technical Director of the winery. Her main role is to transform the grapes into wine! Her intervention starts with the choice of the harvest date and then, she leads the wine making process until it is marketed.
The period that I like the most is of course the harvest with the excitement and effervescence that accompany the birth of a new vintage.
The vineyard of Château Soutard, is endowed with a beautiful 18th century château, a major architectural element of the appellation and we are proud to have made this place a flagship wine tourism destination.
The clay-limestone plateau and the beginning of the northern slope produce an AOC Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé wine, a few hundred metres from the village. It is a place full of history, one of the oldest properties of Saint Emilion.
"I am very proud of this result, especially as the jury is made up of enlightened amateurs."
The powerful nose is smooth, with a dense and refined texture where cocoa powder, citrus notes and mirabelle plum mingle. On the palate, the fresh, racy tannins build a long structure, with the sweetness and distinction characteristic of the Saint-Emilion limestone. The fruity aromas combine with notes of cigar, cedar and flowers to coat this tannic structure with length.
Soutard 2018 is a young wine which, as it ages, will be able to accompany different dishes on different occasions. It will go perfectly with the products of its terroir but will also accept with elegance more exotic cooking.
I hope you enjoy this wine in its youth or maturity; whichever the case, it will reflect the terroir in which it was born.
